Assistant Project Estimator
Work as a key part of the Engineering Team to prepare highly competitive project bids and supporting documentation using standardized tools and processes.?
Must be able to work effectively and maintain a sense of teamwork with the Engineering Dept.
Reviews quote requirements and forwards material needs to Supply Management and substation design needs to Engineering.?
Obtains cost and other commercial information from approved contractors and other approved sources?
Summarizes into proposal form and provides complete Job Estimate Sheet (JES), all information obtained from Engineering (design), Supply Management (material), approved contractors (construct and install)
Familiar with the proposal design needs of marketing and customers.? Familiar with standard industry concepts, practices, and procedures.?
Substation construction experiences a plus.?
Experience working with contractors to define scope of work, negotiate final price, etc.?
Task oriented and the willingness to support standard processes, yet possessing creativity and the ability to improve those processes.?
An individual contributor who can work well as part of a small team.?
Follow standard processes and best practices and continually seek to improve the proposal process. ?
Possess the ability to recognize and recommend alternative designs/scope definitions which support consistency, standardization, and cost competitiveness.?
The ability to clearly describe the advantages and disadvantages of various substation designs. ?
Basic conversational skills and normal tact and courtesy are required. ?
Must be self-motivated and be able to complete all tasks with minimal supervision.
• Computer literate with emphasis on AutoCAD, Word, and Microsoft Excel
• Ability to interpret construction drawings
• High attention to details
• Ability to work under pressure
• At least two years of work experience in Construction Estimating or similar field (preferred Electrical background; Commercial construction is ideal.)
