Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Production Test Technician II performs functional testing and inspection of company products ensuring compliance with customer specifications and delivery requirements and all company quality standards.
• Perform type and routine testing and inspection of traction converters per test procedures, using standard and specialized test equipment, within the routed testing time, ensuring compliance to the quality and delivery metrics.
• Troubleshoot traction converters and control products in a customized application to locate fault, and complete repairs as required.
• Work with high power test systems and to execute the Matlab/Labview based applications to perform traction converter testing
• Ability to understand the electrical schematics and other project documents for effective troubleshooting
• Understand the functioning of the traction converter (as a machine in whole) and the functioning of individual subsystems (Power Electronics based switching modules and their interaction with controller)
• Experience of conducting the Dielectric tests and communication tests for different protocols (Ethernet, CAN, MVB ) is vital
• Inform quality and assembly line for any discrepancies and issues observed during product testing
• Document the test procedure process and test protocol and upload them to the quality and production databases.
• Perform routine repairs and maintenance of test systems and equipment.
• Select and/or construct required test jigs or specialized test equipment.
• Maintain the test infrastructure including test equipment by performing periodic inspections/ maintenances
• Prioritize workload to ensure product deliveries met per master production schedule.
• Perform production assembly and material handling activities as needed.
• Ensure completion and maintenance of all required paperwork, records, documentation, and reports.
• Participate in continuous product and process cross training programs.
• Continuously review manufacturing and test processes and recommend improvements to increase productivity and quality while reducing costs.
• Assist engineering in developing test area layouts and processes for new products.
• Interface with customer during factory acceptance testing.
• Follow and comply with all safety rules and regulations and company policies.
• Maintain departmental housekeeping standards within their assigned work area.
• Working knowledge of the organization’s order delivery and manufacturing processes.
• Working knowledge of testing requirements for all products manufactured within their assigned work area
• Requires an associate degree a related field and three to five years of related experience; or six to eight years of progressively responsible related experience; or a combination of education and experience
• Working knowledge of SAP: manufacturing control system and Microsoft office software
• Working knowledge of executing the tests on high power equipment with an exposure to execute the control software programs (MATLAB/LabVIEW based)
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as schematics, wiring diagrams, workmanship standards, assembly drawings, GPMs, etc.
• Ability to write standard documentation.
• Ability to effectively present information in one on one situations to other employees of the organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Requires a valid driver’s license.
• Requires the ability to operate a variety of electronic test equipment, such as digital meters and oscilloscopes, power analyzers, current/voltage sensors, data loggers, computers, EPROM programmers, etc. Requires the ability to operate soldering tools, hand trucks, overhead crane, telephone, photocopier, calculator, etc.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee frequently is required to walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach above shoulders; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch; and taste or smell.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
PROTECTIVE CLOTHING REQUIRED: Requires the use of ESD equipment and high voltage shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection as needed.
6:00am-2:30pm + OT (M-F). OT hours from extend to 4:30pm on Monday through Thursday, Saturdays from 6:00am-2:30pm, and occasional Sundays (based on business needs).
