3rd Shift Operations Supervisor

As the 3rd Shift Operations Supervisor, you will oversee the daily operations department activities, including manpower allocation and scheduling of production.  Assist management in ensuring all targets related to Safety, Quality and Productivity are met or exceeded.  

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Works with engineering to develop work instructions, trains employees on processes, and supervises daily operations.
  • Identifies, develops, and implements strategies to attain production targets with respect to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Morale.
  • Monitors and reports daily production activities with regards to quality and performance targets.
  • Leads daily production meetings to communicate production goals and provide feedback on overall team performance.
  • Evaluates employee areas of improvement and implements strategies relating to employee development.
  • Provides overall employee/team development strategies through training, coaching, counseling, and performance measurement.
  • Other duties deemed necessary or as related to the scope of the position.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Associate’s degree in a technical or business discipline, bachelor’s degree preferred, or 5+ years’ supervisory experience in an automotive assembly or injection molding environment;
  • 2 - 5 years’ experience in high volume automotive manufacturing environment;
  • Strong experience with measurable in regards to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Morale.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of manufacturing supervisory principles, including LEAN, productivity, Quality
  • Able to supervise and direct 50+ employees
  • Familiarization with MRP and scheduling concepts, preferably SAP;
  • Exceptional computer skills, particular with Excel and Production and Inventory Control Systems.
  • Willingness to work a second or third shift assignment, with overtime as needed.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION
  • Must be able to handle the physical demands of the Operations. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk and hear
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • The ability to listen to  and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand
  • The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted
