Controls Engineer

As the Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving automation control systems integral to our production process.

• Complete all assigned projects and duties
• PLC programming and debugging using Rockwell or Siemens programming software
• Follow Electrical Code to create electrical diagrams
• Follow customer supplied specifications
• Assist in troubleshooting and repair of electrical problems as required
• Design pneumatic, electrical, water and hydraulic circuit drawings for tooling
• Assist in cycle times enhancements, troubleshooting PLC programs and HMI programming
• Work with robot programmers on IO configurations
• Provide accurate time reporting for assigned activities through the ERP system
• Adhere to company policies and procedures
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures
• Perform all other duties, as assigned
• Travel will be required (Typically 2 weeks at a time with alternating weekend’s home, this may vary by travel distance or customer requirements. Install lengths range from 3 months to a year depending on the size of the job) to customer facilities to set up or modify automation processes impacted by robot issues and resolve such issues

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or similar or 2 year’s work related experience in lieu of degree
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Experience writing and debugging PLC using Rockwell or Siemens programming software
• Ability to design industrial communication networks
• Strong knowledge of robotics, control systems and machine operation with hands on experience
• Strong programming, mechanical and electrical problem solving skills
• Knowledge of Electrical Code
• Experience designing one or more of the following: pneumatic, electrical, water and hydraulic circuit prints using AutoCad
• Experience with Microsoft Office
• Strong written and oral communication skills

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and be present on the plant floor or customer facility.

Travel: This position requires out of town and overnight travel.
