Machinist

Responsibilities: Set up and operation of machine tools such as mills, lathes, grinders, and drill press. Read blueprints and machines metallic and nonmetallic parts to print tolerances. Calculate feeds and speeds, adjusts for cutting conditions to optimize processing. Import CAD data and use CAM software to program CNC machining centers. Works closely with machining mentors in problem solving and helps entry level machinists develop their machining skills. Perform PM on machines and maintains the housekeeping of the work area to the 5S shop standard. Clearly communicate technical information to other machinists and managers. Note: This list of responsibilities is by no means inclusive; however, it is intended to be a guideline for activities. Requirements: 1-3 years prior industrial experience preferred. Completed 4-year apprenticeship program, or 16,000 hours combined education and experience as a minimum. Trained to run typical shop equipment such as lathe, mill, grinder, and drill press. Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, and OneNote. Educational Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent required.
