Program Manager

  • The ideal candidate for this position should be able to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment, able to handle infrequent periods of heavy work load, emergency tasks, or communicating/coordinating with global team members outside of normal office business hours.
Essential Duties
  1. Interface as a Project Lead with OEM customers such as GM, Ford, & FCA, responsible for 1-2 vehicle projects at the same time.Each project can include front and rear exterior lamps.
  2. Responsible for project cost and timing tracking, coordinating with internal and external teams to make the product design & development, quality planning, pre-launch and launch process smooth and successful.
  3. In charge of project open issue list together with entire project team to make action plans for issues, and track the execution of action plan until issues are resolved.
  4. Host PDT, Executive Review, and supplier meetings and attend all internal and external design review meetings; responsible for creating and releasing meeting minutes both internally & externally.
  5. Interface seamlessly with China PM counterpart to maintain project progress and task completion.
  6. After award of business, assist Sales Team to update program cost breakdown, review OEM program cost documents and live tracking Program ED&D.
  7. Be lead point of contact with the Customer from program start to approximately 90 days post SOP.Post-90 days until EOP, Program Manager supports/assists China PM counterpart, Quality Engineer and other departments to work with production quality and warranty issues.
  8. Effectively ensures that customer requirements are met relative to product cost, quality, and timely delivery of parts, and finds balanced solution when customer requirements and internal capabilities / project objectives cannot be met.
  9. Presents status of project to internal Management and Customer at defined Program Milestones.
  10. Lead and coordinate whole project team (Design, Engineering, Tooling, Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, Purchasing, etc.) to work effectively together and deliver high quality service and products to customer, ensuring the completion of all project activities meets project timing.
  11. Coordinate / participate / lead early morning or evening teleconferences with China team to review Project issues
  12. Complete source evaluations and RFQ process for prototypes and pre-production build requirements as-required for both internal and customer.
  13. Anticipate potential problems in advance (pro-active forward-thinker), plan appropriate resolutions and take early corrective action before problems happen; authority to engage entire organization to address issues and restore program integrity should such occur and escalate where deemed necessary.
  14. Closely monitor project activities for conformity to project scope, adherence to customer specifications, and other regulations.
  15. In charge of each APQP internal and external Program Level release documents
  16. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. B.S Degree in Engineering/Technical field required along with formal APQP training.
  2. 2-3 years of experience within the automotive lighting industry.
  3. Able to interface within internal and external team in a professional, easy-going manner.
  4. Strong coordinating skills, global cross-discipline team members and customer in an efficient way, able to work with various technical levels of individuals.
  5. Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks & projects at the same time.
  6. Self-driven with high level of responsibility and accountability.
  7. Attention to detail and the ability to drive the meeting of internal and external timing milestones.
  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including interpretation of global partners’ communications.
  9. Strong PC aptitude including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and Project.
  10. Able to participate in meetings per global timezone requirements.
  11. Able to travel internationally to support design reviews or company training (<10%).
  12. Able to travel domestically to customer Engineering Center (weekly) or to assembly plant (<10%).
  13. Able to work overtime if required.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Master’s Degree in Business or Technical field.
  2. 5 or more years of experience within the automotive lighting industry.
  3. 2-3 years in leading a project interfacing with automotive OEMs.
  4. Experience in: Sales, Cost Estimating, Quoting, Manufacturing, Launch, Product Design, 3D Solid Model CAD, Purchasing, Quality, Tooling, Electronics, Optics.
  5. Experience in: Plastics, Injection Molding, LEDs, and Electronics.
