The Manufacturing Production Planner manages the production schedule based on customer demand. They are also responsible for looking at future work and providing a demand schedule for future PO issuance requests to Sales & Project Management. The Planner also has responsibility to get feedback from Manufacturing on changes.
A Planner coordinates with purchasing to facilitate the timely planning of material deliveries to meet production schedule and manufacturing needs. Optimizes material planning to meet budgets, timing, and scope of project objectives.
The Planner coordinates and follows up with internal departments to ensure updates with critical path schedule to ensure that the overall process runs smoothly. Provides regular updates to the customer as needed.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Manage holistic production schedule & future forecast demand for facility loading, streamlining processes so that purchasing supply chain and production can meet timelines.
Maintain capacity chart for proper staffing adjustments to meet manufacturing needs.
Communicate and coordinate with other departments regarding production schedules and any possible changes, including Sales, Project Management, Procurement, Manufacturing & end Customer.
Be capable of using computer technology relating to enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
Work with purchasing to develop and maintain effective delivery schedules for vendors and suppliers.
Monitor supplier performance in terms of delivery timing for critical suppliers as needed.
Monitor material levels with Manufacturing to ensure correct material has arrived for projects.
Work with purchasing as necessary on material overages or shortages for projects.
Communicate with Purchasing on late orders/shortages for recovery plans with suppliers.
Maintain accurate scheduling records of schedule updates from PO to job completion.
Provide feedback to purchasing on purchase activity and supplier KPI performances.
Supporting manufacturing, engineering, and project management departments on material flow.
Can support purchasing for selecting vendors that meet the company’s quality, price, and delivery requirements.
Can support reviewing and analyzing purchase requisitions to confirm orders for manufacturing schedules.
Have working knowledge of RMA process with departments and suppliers.
Understands and follows safety & environmental regulations and identifies safety/environmental concerns.
Adheres to the Quality System and participates in continuous improvement.
Education and/or Experience Associates degree from a college or university or 3 years related experience and/or training in planning; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
